Summers in Colorado are something you don't want to miss. Luckily for us Elements we get to walk out of our office and experience what people travel miles to do. Since the snow has melted and our company ski days have passed, we decided it was time to embark on a fun summer Cloud Elements activity. We decided to implement summer hike days! On a Friday of every month we have marked off our calendars in the morning to enjoy the summer sun.
Hike 1: Beaver Brook Trail, Golden.
Our office dog, Denali, was very excited to skip out on the office for the day and hit the trails with the rest of the company. Denali started off bolting up the trail and exhausted all of her energy. She spent the rest of the hike trailing behind. After the first stopping point to take some photos, the rest of the team caught up - Brian did so by running up the trail and showing everyone up. As the hike continued, the group came to a river crossing. Walking over log bridges isn't as sturdy as it seems. Some of the Elements made it smoothly across but one wrong step and into the creek you went. Unfortunately for Brad that happened to be the case. After a few hours of creek hopping and exhausting the pup, we wrapped up the hike with a brunch in Golden.
Hike 2: Royal Arch, Boulder.
Us Elements embarked on our July hike to the Royal Arch in Boulder. We met at the base of Chautauqua park and began our trek to the arch. With our camelbaks and hiking pup Denali in tow we wound around until we found the right trail. Luckily for us we had some CU Boulder grads to show us the right way. The hike was not as easy as we expected, as our usual path was closed off due to nesting raptors so we had to opt for the high road (literally). We trekked up a rocky path which seemed more like a natural stair stepper before reaching the top (or so we thought). We all reached the plateau at the top and began cheering assuming we were had completed our hike, little did we know the arch was still another ¾ of a mile away. As we trekked down more boulders and through some little streams we finally found the Royal Arch. The arch and the views were about as royal as one could imagine. See pictures below…
After we took some time to soak in the views and rehydrate, we headed back to town to do what we do best; EAT. We stopped at a local diner featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives called Foolish Craig's. One Element, Hannah, chased down our waitress after a brief moment of FOMO to change her order to the recommended Foolish Crepe (she stands by the recommendation, if you choose to go). Full and happy we all hopped in our cars and caravanned the long 40 minutes back to the Cloud Elements office.
Stay tuned for more Cloud Element’s news & summer adventures!
