Database Hub: Convert Your Database to a RESTful API

By Brian Chan in GET/technical Posted Jul 19, 2016

Picking the right database is a critical piece in your application stack and plays an important role in how you format and use your data. The Cloud Elements Database Hub is the first tool to convert leading databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) into a RESTful API. Our Database integrations leverage the tables contained within your database and transforms them into a collection of resources. RESTful methods (POST, GET, PATCH, DELETE) are used to interact with these resources (accounts, contacts, files). The columns in the table become the modeling attributes used to send payloads with each API call.  API documentation is automatically generated based on the information contained in your database table (API Docs are not available for viewing as they are generated based on the information contained in the Database Table).Database to RESTful API

To limit the tables that you want to expose as resources, we offer the ability to override which resources are generated as you create instances. This is a great option when you have thousands of tables.

If the table contains a primary key, the Retrieve, Update, and Delete by ID APIs can be generated. If a table does not have a primary key or contains multiple primary keys, the Retrieve, Update, and Delete by ID APIs cannot be generated.

If security is a concern, our database Elements work well with our Ground2Cloud connectors, offering an on-premises integration to leading services. Connect your database to Ground2Cloud and then create your on-premises database instance.

We plan to expand the Hub to include ElasticSearch, Redis and other cache systems.
